This isn't quite as good as the 'real thing' but makes a pretty good substitute. Buy rare beef from the deli (it would be even better if you can get italian beef!) and then mix beef broth with a package of dry italian seasoning mix. Once the broth mix is hot, add the meat till just warm.
www.portillos.com is now offering italian beef online & shipped fedex but it's expensive!
